The Experience Factor Website Design

Travel Agent & Group Travel

Overview

The Experience Factor is a travel group founded by travel agent Michelle. She offers travel agent group packages and group themed travel for holidays and special events. Michelle wanted to redesign her website for a more professional look and feel. She also desired to gain more awareness of her business to gain more clientele and to stay connected with her customers through a monthly newsletter.

The Problem

Michelle’s previous website was unfocused and other than her logo, it lacked the essential branding elements that would allow her to connect with her target audience. The site was also lacking structure, general information, and meaningful navigation. She has been successful with connecting with potential clients through her social media but needed her website to better represent her brand and the quality she has to offer.

The Process

    • Content Planning
    • Brand Story Development
    • Copywriting & Editing
    • Image Editing
    • Layout Design
    • Web Design / Development
    • Social Media Integration
    • Testing & Launch

After we determined what the main goals were for The Experience Factor, we narrowed down who the target audience was. We then began researching successful businesses within the group travel industry to help produce a content plan and brand story that would work for her website; because content is key, we began by proposing keywords and phrases associated with the brand.

We created a mood board using the keywords and images that she had from past trips as well as stock images; this allowed us to define the mood that she wanted her brand to illustrate. These elements were used to write the copy for the site and devise a brand story that would help build trust and evoke the desired mood. We organized and labeled the content produced to help plan the structure of the site. We then developed wireframes to define the site’s structure and layout.

The Solution

After defining the structure of the layout, we utilized the content plan and images from the mood board to create a mockup of the site. This allows the client to see what the “The Experience Factor” website will look like prior to development. Upon approval of the mock-up design, I began developing the website using the Word Press platform. This would allow my client to make any necessary changes to content after development. Several of the image provided by the client were low quality and/or were different sizes so images editing had to be done before they could be utilized on the site. We incorporated high quality images that present a fun and adventurous mood, general information and calls to action (join the mailing list and learn more about upcoming trips). There are interactive elements included that help to maintain the user’s attention and promote the client’s site goals.
